Islay residents do not want nor need another Islay distillery.

Islay will not gain anything from this distillery being built.

The land where they have proposed plans for is currently marked as green belt - A greenbelt is a policy and land use zone designation used in land use planning to retain areas of largely undeveloped, wild, or agricultural land surrounding or neighboring urban areas.

With the planning for Port Ellen distillery being passed, enough is enough. 

This won't be the 11th Islay distillery. 

Why are they going to so much hassle?

They don’t have access to water so are they going to start damming burns and messing with the ecology and landscape?

The maltings are at full capacity especially now Port Ellen Distillery is going ahead..

So not even a small percentage of malt is being made on Islay.

Are they going to do unpeated or are they going to cut peat here and send off the Island which is both unsustainable and not eco-friendly?

How are they going to run a distillery on an Island with nearly zero unemployment, bring in newcomers and house them where…? or is this going to be a distillery staffed by robots?

They plan on making 1.2 million litres of alcohol per year with no water, no malt and no peat from Islay.

Whisky that is 100% not made on Islay but sold using the Islay name on their bottle = Easy money and greed.

This new distillery is going to change the whole face of the southern part of Islay and it will have a devastating negative impact on the island…

The people of Islay will not benefit from this distillery being built the only people who will benefit greatly out of this are the people who own it and want to make money from Islay's good whisky reputation and use it to their most upper advantage.

I’m posting this because I want people to be aware of the corporate take over that is happening currently on Islay and to hopefully do something about it before its too late.

Since this whisky will not even be made on Islay what is the point?
