The Issue

Are you concerned about the current speed limits on the A275, through and around Danehill?

Vehicles travelling at excessive speeds along this stretch of road have been the subject of a large number of complaints. Over the years, there have been numerous incidents, including serious accidents, highlighting the dangers posed by high-speed traffic.

Currently, the speed limit increases from 30mph in Danehill to 50mph immediately outside the village, and to 60mph soon after. This means that drivers approaching from the north must abruptly reduce their speed to 30mph. In addition, the speed reduction signs are dirty and obscured, meaning that many drivers fail to slow down and drive through the village at more than double the legal speed limit.

Particularly concerning is the 60mph limit approaching Cumnor House School. This is reduced to an absurd 50mph directly outside of the school, despite the presence of two busy entrances used by hundreds of children, parents and staff each day.

As the local East Sussex County Councillor, I need evidence of local support for a speed reduction on this stretch of the A275. With your support, we can make our community safer.

Many thanks, Cllr Christina Coleman
