Change.org, PLEASE...
The Issue
When petitioners pay Change.org they are promised that their petitions will be promoted, yet there is no way for us to verify this. Simply taking them at their word is not enough. While the views expressed here are trivial, it starts to matter when someone pays, and later wonders how Change.org carries out promoting petitions in the background.
On behalf of the millions of people who interact with Change.org as well as petition administrators and paying-contributors, we want to say thank you and that we are grateful for this platform but I believe that a little more transparency needs to be put in place.
For example: When petitions are promoted, do petitioners get to choose their audience based on time, location or demographics? Are some entry fields meant for that? Field descriptions need to be more clear. Does the website, for example, choose a random or automated promotion time of 3:00 AM when most people are half asleep, uninterested and about to log off Change.org? Does the website delay paid-promotions or view-counts, giving the impression that nobody is interested thus drawing frustration and even more funds from petitioners? Tallies on some petitions sometimes freeze for hours or do not reflect actual views.
These are technical questions that I would like answered. I hope there is nothing sinister behind these concerns. I urge Change.org to look into this although I am confident Change.org can rise to the challenge since the website appears to be nearly flawless. I will give them credit where credit is due.
For this reason and a few more, I ask that Change.org live up to its name, offer an explanation, modify its site or refund our money or all of the above.
Please help support other causes: Unite: Healthcare Workers , Medical Worker's Holiday , Migrant & Worker Abuse , God's Army
