Make Shadamy a couple or make Amy and Shadow interact more

The Issue

Shadamy is the most versatile couple in Sonic fandom. This pairing has so my potential and so much depth - it's not just eye-candy. There is so much that can be done with them! They can go from humorous, to passionate, or dramatic. The key is in their own characters and how they mesh with each other. I also think they are each other's perfect support beam since Amy will always seems to have faith in Shadow's abilities (which has been shown).  With Shadow, Amy'd have to constantly tap into the reasonable, sweet, innocent, somewhat mature and morally-realistic side of herself, exposing us less to her childish side and giving more into what she can truly be. When the childishness comes in, it'll be more humoring than frustrating this time.  With Amy, well...that's obvious - we all do this for him when pairing him with someone. He will not have to change (as true Shadow fans like myself don't wish to see him molded back into being a gushy Cassanova), but he can be improved. We can also see him spout his intelligence and wisdom more around Amy, instead of hearing him powder his, "I'm the Ultimate Lifeform!" ego 24.7. Amy had opened a side to Shadow on ARK that left us cocking an eyebrow. I've only heard and seen Shadow act in that way with Maria and no other female, and in such a brief moment, too. He'd be quite a sport to watch open up if they furthered their interaction, since that'll take some time and conflict - or perhaps with Amy, it wouldn't take more than a smile. He might even have more of a personality on him at that point. Also for once, someone will dependently need Shadow and he will feel a solid feeling of importance and concentrate on that importance without question. He will also learn that his only purpose...is to LIVE, and be happy. Not to where he's puking rainbows, but mellowed out.

ShadAmy: Together

That's one basic point - both characters will be happy. Again, not in which we see Shadow giving heart-warmed smiles into that camera that would melt the sun every five seconds, but content, calm, and complete with himself - as for Amy. She'd also mellow out her habit of being a hyper-romance lover and appreciate the relationship through the subtle actions that confirm it's solid bridge. They don't need to be in each other's face or even mutter, "I love you." I'm sure Amy would confirm Shadow's feelings through his actions instead of outright saying them to her, since she's intuitive enough to pick up on Sonic's. I mean, who seriously wants to see that? All they need to be appealing is to have each other's company through more interaction. Amy's the only character I can ever see Shadow having a personal friendship/relationship with. SUBTLETY is the key.

I shall always think Amy's relationship with Shadow would be very different from his past with Maria. With Maria, it seemed like he was so overwhelmed by that friendship, that it was all he'd see - him and Maria. His eyes weren't really open. They were centered. Maybe clouded. The fact that she was all he thought of, made he seem selfish and closed off to everything else. With Amy, I'd want to show it as him seeing that there's a world bigger than just he and the person he's with.

Shadow's Sought: Purpose = Happiness; Amy's Sought: Love = Happiness

It's cliche, but it would be predictable for him to see Amy as his new 'purpose.' Win-win for them both.

Although Shadow is normally reserved and is NOT as easily annoyed/impatient/short-tempered as Sonic is unless the annoyance IS Sonic, when Shadow is triggered, he's on a blood-rampage that seems more than fatal to those around him/in his way. He's also on a bit of the uptight side. Being with Amy might actually soothe him into peace and relaxation, to take appreciation and time in little things again, and Amy being with Shadow would do the exact same when it comes to the former.

If they were together-together, I think that would be one of the many highlights of their interaction - stability and over all growth. I like who these two characters become when they're canonically around each other - they seem to become BETTER characters.

She'll also be forced to be a stronger person (while she already exercises this with her support for Sonic) ; although Shadow is strong, it takes an even stronger person to support an already strong soul who is prone to feeling the weight of failure harder and faster than the average person. 'Strong people' like Shadow need to be protected, supported, and defended just as greatly. Also, someone will emotionally and mentally need Amy, and she will at last have a more important role, instead of casting as the constant damsel in distress who only gets to shine once or twice.

She'll develop patience, mental balance, and growth, since being intertwined with Shadow's energy triggers it. This doesn't mean we have to strip her of her character, of course. Can you say, "Sakura (Naruto)"?

She will not have to be changed by him, but improved.

Attention, we are not demanding that the couple becomes cannon, mainly because the comics were rebooted, and apart from Amy's crush on Sonic, there is no absolute romance (... for now?)

But Shadamy fans have been ddisappointed over the years in the main cannon (games) since SA2 came out. SEGA likes to add spicy hidden messages in the games to keep all fans happy. During Shadow the Hedgehog (video game), Shadow can choose to assist Amy in helping find Cream and have her fight alongside the player during the stage and in the boss battle, but this time, there is no reward in return. During this stage level there is a route to an unlockable stage that is titled, "The Miracle of Love" if you allow Shadow to comply to Amy's plea to save the world, which changes the story from dark to hero story, as listed under the, "Unlockable Stage Levels" in the Shadow the Hedgehog Game Guide. So basically there is a hidden message here, that either Shadow is in love with Amy, making him go from dark to hero, or has a soft spot for her in the least. But SEGA never explained what they meant with that "Miracle of Love" thing. It just faded away as the years went by, and they haven't interacted with each other ever since, which really frustrates us, Shadamy fans, who are still waiting for answers on that matter.

Personally, I love what Ian is doing with Amy in the comics. He turned her into a more likable character: she is less annoying, became strong and doesn't need to have Sonic save her all the time anymore (just sometimes), is a lot more mature and independent. Really, I love it.

Shadow in the comics is shown hitting Amy with her own hammer. And that was completely out of character. Shadow would never hurt Amy or any helpless oponent that he knows has no chance against him, so that was a mistake on Ian's part (or whoever wrote it to be that way)

So even if they don't become an actual couple, we would be just as happy with more interaction between the two of them. Not in a negative way, as stated in the paragraph above, but them actually talking, fighting together, meeting somewhere and pair up in a mission... etc... There's so much that can be done with them... Take Amy and Shadow's positive view on robots( since they have both befriended one at some point) and turn it into a story, the possibilities are endless. Or have Amy have character development growth in a story such as: Amy wants to impress Sonic so she tries to infiltrate Eggman's base to bring Sonic a chaos emerald he had stole in the past, and Shadow happens to be there with Rouge on a GUN mission. Amy gets cornered by Eggman, Shadow saves her, and explains to get that she can't do good deeds to impress someone, but instead doing it for herself to become stronger both physically and mentally. (yeah, something along these lines)
