Save Hallahan - America’s First Catholic All Girls' High School
The Issue
Founded in 1901, John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School was Philadelphia's very first Catholic high school for girls. Over the past 120 years, this educational institution has been committed to educating young women with faith, purpose, and vision. The faculty has molded, and matriculated more than 37,000 young women. Hallahan represents so much more than just a building to her current students and to her proud alumnae.
This is a school where young girls developed their minds, hearts, and social consciences. Students have come from around the city, strongly rooted in their Catholic faith, to pursue an education in arts, sciences, and business for the past 120 years. Like her city, Hallahan is strongly rooted in tradition. In fact, generations of women have graduated from Hallahan.
Graduates have gone forward to share their meaningful and extraordinary lives and careers, rippling throughout Philadelphia and beyond into countless locations around the world. This education has had a ripple effect on thousands upon thousands of lives richly lived as a result of the foundation and morals instilled by an incredible Catholic education.
Hallahan has an impeccable history of instilling honorable values and integrity in young women. Join us in demanding that this institution which has touched so many lives is afforded the opportunity to continue for another 120+ years.
