Dear Cardinal Dolan:

We are a group of families, parishioners, alumni, neighbors, and friends of Saint Paul's School in Valley Cottage, NY.

The  lives of many children, parents, teachers, and staff are being uprooted by the changes your Archdiocese has proposed in eliminating Grades 2-8 at St. Paul’s. 

We believe the current plan to turn St. Paul’s into a specialized early development school is NOT sustainable from an enrollment standpoint and will lead to the full closure of the school and the sale of the property in the near future. 

We believe in the value of Catholic education. The program is an investment in the future of our faith with long term benefits that cannot be measured on a financial balance sheet. 

St. Paul’s is  a gem in a Catholic education system that has already suffered great losses through school closures in our area. St. Paul’s offers the best campus setting in Rockland County and has many on-site programs for special needs students that are offered nowhere else. It is the only handicapped-accessible Catholic school in Rockland County. The school means so much to so many. 

Please consider the long term impact on  the many, many children and families that will be displaced from a school and a community they love if this plan is carried out. 

Please do the right thing by our children, our  parents, and our community.
