Keep Father Benjamin Kosnac at St. Cyril and Methodius in Sterling Heights

Father Ben Kosnac has been a loving and dedicated Priest to all who walked through the door at St. Cyril and Methodius in Sterling Heights for over 15 years and through his love and dedicated service, his Parish has become one of the largest in the Archdiocese of Detroit. I could talk about his accomplishments and how amazing he is and how much he means to us forever. There is nothing he wouldn't do to help those that need him and he always made time to see and talk to everyone despite the people he serves being in the thousands. Despite all this, and much to everyone's shock and dismay, it was very recently announced that he is abruptly being removed from his Church and sent back to his home country of Slovakia without any warning and without a valid reason. Actually no reason at all was given, just that he is being recalled. Recalled by who?

We understand Priests get relocated and are sent to different places as needed but sometimes a Priest is wrongly removed from his Church where he is desperately needed for no good reason and this is what is happening to Father Ben. We, as his Parish, are trying to appeal to the Archdiocese of Detroit l because in our hearts we know this is not God's will. This was willed solely by humans with the power to make this decision and without any care or accountability to even offer an explanation. We know these people are Church officials, and while being wholly respectful and obedient to the Church and her teachings, we are also keeping in mind that Pope Francis said the Priests are not the Church, he said the people are the Church and we believe him. All the faithful reading this are the Church. Please sign this petition so we can keep our Priest. You can't imagine how much he means to us. Even if you live far away and do not know him, please sign and help us anyway. We need all the support we can get and we need it fast because this Sunday April 23rd, Divine Mercy Sunday, is his last Mass. Like I said, this shocking decision was announced very abruptly and it is being carried out right away. In Jesus' Name and through the intercession of His Mother, Mary most Holy who Father Ben is deeply devoted to, We pray that our petition will be heard and answered.
