St. Matthias Supporters,
On February 13th, the Archdiocese of Chicago issued its formal decree stating that St Matthias parish would merge with Queen of Angels and that St Matthias Parish would therefore close.
Yesterday, supporters of the St Matthias Church issued its formal appeal of this decree to Cardinal Cupich. This is just the first step of a long process - the Cardinal will most certainly deny our appeal in the next 30 days, and then we will have 15 days to appeal directly to the Vatican.
Please keep St Matthias in your thoughts and prayers - we are in the final stages of implementing a 501(c)(3) to financially support our efforts to keep St Matthias Church open for the long-term.
