Dear friends with over a 1000 signatures, there is growing support for our cause and the media is helping in spreading the awareness. Last week Scroll.IN carried a detailed article about the petition. You can find the link below. Though it has been close to a month now, we have not received any word officially from ASI. From the article one can observe that ASI seems to claim they are not aware of this petition, in spite of Change.org sending them updates. Another point is that when folks from media question the ASI officials they are not providing clear reasons about the rule. The reasons they provide seem arbitrary To get a clearer picture , using the Right to Information Act 2005(RTI) I have filed an application asking ASI to provide information about the reason for the restriction as well as to provide us with a copy of the specific Law, and why this law should exist. Hoping this will make them aware of the issue faced by us and hoping to hear from them soon. Meanwhile, I keep hearing that there are several other departments such as the Police, that also intimidate and prevent sketching in public places. I would recommend the concerned people to file an RTI to the department within the specific area asking them to provide the rule/law which prohibits this. Please keep spreading the word. I am sure soon we will get a solution that will enable us to sketch freely.
