Continue Block Scheduling
Continue Block Scheduling
The Issue
Block scheduling is vital for the mental health of students as it allows teens to get off school early so they can spend more time with family, resting, and doing after-school activities. When students have work, sports, clubs, and homework it can be difficult to do it all in one day, but getting off earlier would allow less stress for the students and more time to do the things they love. There are also fewer transitional periods between classes which means less contact with covid. The structure for block scheduling is also similar to that of college with sometimes only 3 classes a day. Also, so many different subjects in one day make it difficult to retain all the information. With only 3 long periods, students can indulge in the subjects and have more time to spend taking tests. With the new mask mandate, students must wear a mask for long hours from 8:30-3:30. Having a shorter day will allow students to have a break from the mask at home. Having a block schedule would improve the student's mental health, have less contact with covid, and more time to do school work and afterschool extracurriculars.
