Lower Grade Boundaries for AQA French A-Level Examination
Lower Grade Boundaries for AQA French A-Level Examination
The Issue
The AQA French A-Level Examination on 14/06/16 was much, much harder than any past paper ever created. The topics covered were tenuously linked to the syllabus and the questions required specialist knowledge of vocabulary and topics that have never been covered. For example, needing to know what 'iron' and 'copper' were and the 'G8 Summit'. The demand to conjugate éteindre into the present participle was unrealistic. The reading question 8 was beyond difficult and the listening section tried to trick the students at every question. The future of our lives and our places at university depended on this exam and now many of our dreams have been crushed. Many students applying for Oxford, Cambridge, Durham and other Russell Group Universities are now terrified that they will not have a place at university. Everyone in my class needed an A or A* and none of us think that it is likely. Please AQA, lower the grade boundaries for this exam. No matter what we revised, we couldn't have possibly prepared for what came up. Our places at university depend on it.
