End Elephant Riding at Angkor
2 mai 2016
The media have heard you, social media have heard you, and more than 120,000 people have joined the herd to end elephant riding! Please continue to share this petition on Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms so we continue to gain support at this truly incredible speed. Together, we will end elephant riding. In the latest round of media reports, both CNN and Forbes both ran stories about the tragic death of Sambo, our petition, and the need to end this cruel practice. This issue extends well beyond Angkor, and the discussion has sparked discussion and action around the world. "Ethically speaking, this answer is very simple: elephants are not born wanting to carry selfie-snapping tourists, they are not born wanting to wear a saddle on their backs, they are not born to be subservient to human beings. Human beings make elephants do this, by abusing them and inflicting pain from a very young age. To put it bluntly, these endangered animals are beaten into submission. Their spirits are broken and they are forced to work in inhumane temperatures for hours without adequate food, water, shelter or rest." - Carmel De Bedin for CNN
