La comunidad de Carrillo enfrenta una situación urgente: el puente principal presenta hundimientos por fisuras estructurales, su vida útil ya fue superada y el tránsito actual pone en riesgo a conductores y vecinos. Cerrar este paso sin alternativas claras generaría un colapso vial aún mayor en Guanacaste.

Pero algo importante acaba de pasar.

El 20 de mayo del 2025, el Concejo Municipal de Carrillo declaró la Ruta del Sol (Rodeito–Monte Galán–Santa Cruz) como proyecto de interés público cantonal.

Una decisión rápida, concreta y necesaria.

Esto demuestra que la comunidad fue escuchada y que la urgencia es real.

Ahora es momento de ir más allá.

Entre las opciones existentes, el Ingenio El Viejo ha ofrecido en donación 9.6 km de vía que podrían funcionar como otra ruta alterna.

Esta vía no reemplaza el puente actual, pero sí ayudaría a descongestionarlo, extender su vida útil y facilitar el acceso a puntos clave como zonas turísticas.

Creemos que todas las rutas alternas deben ser valoradas con seriedad, especialmente esta opción donada, que podría representar un ahorro significativo en tiempo, pero se debe analizar el costo y la logística,

Esta petición busca mantener el tema en la agenda, generar análisis técnico y decisiones informadas, y sobre todo, celebrar que ya se están tomando acciones concretas.

The community of Carrillo is facing an urgent situation: the main bridge is sinking due to structural cracks. Its lifespan has already been exceeded, and current traffic puts drivers and residents at risk. Closing this bridge without clear alternatives would cause even greater traffic collapse throughout Guanacaste.

But something important just happened.

On May 20th, 2025, the Carrillo Municipal Council officially declared the Ruta del Sol (Rodeito–Monte Galán–Santa Cruz) a project of public interest.

A fast, decisive, and necessary move.

This proves that the community was heard and that the urgency is being taken seriously.

Now, it’s time to go further.

Among the existing options, El Viejo Sugar Mill has offered a 9.6 km road as a donation to serve as another alternate route.

This road wouldn’t replace the current bridge, but it would ease congestion, extend the bridge’s usability, and improve access to key areas like the tourist zones.

We believe that all viable alternate routes deserve careful evaluation, especially this donated one, which could offer significant savings in cost, time, and logistics.

This petition is about keeping the conversation alive, encouraging technical assessments and informed decisions, and—most importantly—celebrating that action is already being taken.
