Approve the installation of speed tables in Miller Parke

Approve the installation of speed tables in Miller Parke
The Issue
As a concerned parent, pet owner, and HOA President within the Miller Parke community, I am deeply worried about the ongoing issue of speeding in our neighborhood. The threat to our children and pets cannot be overstated. Every day, some homeowners, guests, delivery drivers, and even school buses drive at excessive speeds on our streets. There’s been numerous reports of community members or pets almost getting struck by a vehicle.
Our community is home to numerous young children who love playing outside, enjoying friends, and riding their bicycles or scooters. Similarly, many of us have pets at risk from speeding vehicles. The safety and wellbeing of our community members should be a priority, and we must take action before a tragedy occurs.
One practical solution that we propose is for the City of Kingsport to approve the Miller Parke Homeowners Association (HOA) to purchase and install stage staggered speed tables in strategic locations throughout our community. Speed tables have been shown to effectively reduce the speed of vehicular traffic, significantly lowering the risk of accidents. According to studies, speed tables can decrease vehicle speeds by up to 15 mph, ensuring a safer environment for both pedestrians and pets.
The cost of installing these speed tables is an investment in the safety of our community, and we are prepared to work with city officials to ensure a smooth implementation process. We recognize the importance of getting the city’s approval, as the installation will occur on public roads, and support from local authorities is crucial.
We urge the City of Kingsport to recognize the urgency of this matter. Every moment without action puts our children and pets at unnecessary risk. Let's work together to create a safer environment for everyone.
Please sign this petition to show your support for the installation of speed tables in the Miller Parke community. Together, we can prevent dangerous speeding and protect our loved ones from harm. Thank you for your support.
