The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority has approved an additional $4.6M from Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Concession Funds for the George Snyder Trail. The Commonwealth Transportation Board must now act in January to give its approval. But will the Fairfax City Council agree to accept the money!!???

On December 9th the Fairfax City Council voted to hold a public hearing and take action on the appropriation of this additional money.  However, it was a narrow vote of 3-2 with one abstention.

The public hearing will take place on January 13th.  Mayor Catherine Read, a trail supporter, will not be able to vote to break any tie on this vote.  Several of the Council have been opposed to the trail. Therefore, public support and testimony will be important to encourage the Council members to accept the additional funds.  

Please let your support for the trail be known by writing to MayorandCouncil@fairfaxva.gov. Also, plan on attending the January 13th meeting to further express your support.
