New Village Academy is a new public charter high school (tuition-free) that is truly needed in Anne Arundel County, providing a different approach to high school, where students are KNOWN, seen and heard as individuals, CONNECTED to community in school and beyond, EMPOWERED to take charge of their own education and future, and ACCOUNTABLE for meaningful, high-quality work.   

Too many students are disengaged from school and don't envision a future for themselves that high school can help them reach.  New Village Academy supports students to have both the WILL and the SKILL to create their future success, using the whole city of Annapolis as their classroom. Students learn through projects, internships, individualized skill development, and portfolio-based assessment.  

On August 24th the Board of Education will vote to approve or deny the charter for this small, community-based high school.  Signing this petition will help us to show that there is broad support in Anne Arundel County for providing this much-needed option for students who choose it, while helping to reduce overcrowding at Annapolis High School.
