The Issue
To the Elizabeth City Council and Community,
On September 10, 2025, we lost Charlie Kirk, a fearless champion of free speech, faith, and conservative values, to a tragic political assassination at Utah Valley University. Where Charlie was MARTYRED for his faith in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ At just 32 years of age.
Charlie founded Turning Point USA, inspiring millions of young Americans to stand for liberty, free markets, courage and their faith, in the face of censorship. His voice resonated across the nation, including here in Elizabeth City, where hundreds gathered for a vigil on September 12, 2025, to honor his bold legacy.
We propose a vibrant street mural on East Colonial Ave to celebrate Charlie Kirk’s life and message. East Colonial Ave is the perfect location. its high traffic, family friendly stretch ensures daily visibility, while its name echoes the colonial fight for freedom that Charlie’s mission mirrored. Near local colleges, this mural will inspire students to carry forward his call for boldness in Christian faith and conservative values.
Why a Mural?
• A Lasting Tribute: A mural etches Charlie’s legacy into our streets, ensuring his message endures of speaking the gospel freely.
• Defies Silencing: It stands against the violence that lead to him being MARTYRED, proclaiming that his voice will not be erased.
• Youth Inspiration: It engages Elizabeth City’s students, alongside TPUSA members sparking conversations about liberty and faith
• Community Pride: It boosts our city’s recognition, draws visitors, boosting tourism, and unites us around shared values and religious liberties.
• Affordable Impact: At $10,000–$20,000, funded by grassroots donations and crowdfunding and Turning Point USA.
Our Vision:
Imagine East Colonial Ave alive with BOLD FONT a mural of Charlie name and a Cross representing his faith in Jesus Christ. Annual repainting ceremonies will invite students of all ages organized by local TPUSA chapters to participate, keeping the mural vibrant and hosting events. A QR code will link to Charlie’s speeches, letting his voice echo. This mural will stand as a testament to freedom in all aspects.
Our Ask:
We urge the Elizabeth City Council to approve this mural at the October 27, 2025, meeting. We call on our community to support this tribute with signatures, donations, and voices. Together, we can honor Charlie Kirk’s courage and ensure his legacy inspires generations in Elizabeth City.
