Right now, there is a mental health counselor at our school, but not one specifically for athletes. We think having an athlete mental health counselor at our school would be beneficial to all athletes. Research at McLean hospital shows that 35% of athletes have mental health concerns, and 57% of high schoolers play at least one sport. An athlete mental health counselor would improve the mental state of many athletes in our school and help improve performance in all sports.
