Apple, Stop Region-Blocking Purchased Music

The Issue

Customers are reporting that purchased iTunes/Apple music later becomes blocked with errors like “not available in your region” or disappears from their library. If you paid for a song or album, you should not lose the ability to download and play it later due to licensing or region changes. Turning a paid purchase into revoked access undermines trust in Apple’s store.

This can happen to anyone who buys digital music. People build libraries over years, and when even one paid album becomes unavailable, it proves that digital purchases are not secure. Customers should not have to worry that a future catalog change will lock something they already bought.

What needs to change: Apple should keep all previously purchased music downloadable and playable for the Apple ID that purchased it, even if the item is later removed from the public catalog or becomes region restricted. If Apple cannot provide continued access to a purchased item, Apple should offer a clear, automatic refund option with simple notification to the customer.
