Using the word gay in this way is homophobic. The word "gay" has undergone a dramatic change from it's classical meaning of "happy", to it's contemporary meaning of "homosexual", to it's common slang usage meaning "bad" or "stupid". Unfortunately, the last definition is getting ever more popular. We should be teaching people that it is bad and negative; not having it in the dictionary under this definition giving them a reason to use it.

 When was the last time you heard someone describe someone as "gay" and thought they meant the person was "happy," "bright," or "given to social pleasures?" Homophobic language is at an all time high, and being an LGB Young Person is hard enough without having to hear offensive language on a daily basis; whether it is used as an insult or not these words still have impacts... we should be living in a society where being gay shouldn't be an insult. You wouldn't say 'thats so disabled' or 'stop being so black', so why do we accept it with gay?

Apple's includes a third, informal definition of the word "gay" in their dictionarties.I think it's about time that Apple and other dictionaries update their definitions to prioritize the widely accepted meaning that gay = homosexual. Let's affirm this definition so we can teach young people the correct way to use a word that is slung around so thoughtlessly.I believe having "Gay" defined as this in the dictionary is adding to the issue; and it really does not have to be listed in there under this ignorant and homophobic habit.
