The Issue

Apple Inc. Introduced a feature that essentially creates a bricked device or unuseable device without notification of such intent. Activation/iCloud Lock is a feature that is automatically forced onto any device ranging from iPhone,iPad,Mac, and iPod touch devices that are connected to the find my iphone/iPad/iPod touch. Once a device is activation locked without information pertaining to the account including security questions, Apple id, and password the Device is useless. Apple has created a product feature that is impossible to get around and for those who have bought these devices from eBay, online ecommerce websites, auctions or any other form of commerce knows how disappointing this is. Also for families who have had a Deceased member pass away it is equally just as hard to lift the activation lock. This petition to Apple Inc. Request that Apple Inc. Either A. Remove and Drop the Activation/iCloud Lock Completely B. Create a easier process to lift the activation lock C. Create a system or service that provide activation lock removal for a fee Apple Inc. can create a service to remove an Activation Lock via a Signed Document also known as a Signed Notary that serves as a legal binding contract between the end user and Apple Inc. to serve as proof of ownership if device is reported stolen then the name on the signed notary will prove that the signer has either stole a product or received a stolen product. Another option is that Apple Inc. Can provide a Activation/iCloud lock removal service for a fee. One more option would be to require a SSN, Birthdate, and Photo in order to sign up for iCloud this would serve as verification of ownership. The process in which they do now is complete non sense and makes it impossible to remove the activation lock. This petition is for Apple Inc. to listen to its customers and supporters and to make a change that is way last due.
