Apple, Inc., Timothy Donald "Tim" Cook: Fix or replace iPhone 5's with the bad Apple Wi-Fi chip.
In October of 2012, like many other people, I bought the shiny new iPhone 5. Saving up this money was hard for me, since I was only 14. While I was enjoying my new iPhone, I had no idea that there was a problem with the wifi. Once I started using my iPhone as a primary streaming device after selling my iPad, I noticed that while I was trying to enjoying the videos I was streaming from YouTube, my iPhone 5's internet would cut out. It only happens on WPA2 secure networks, so replicating the issue on an Apple Store's open network is slim to none. This means Apple can refuse you a replacement device as they could not replicate the problem.
Thanks to a discussion on the Apple Support Forums (view page here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4322714?start=4275&tstart=0), many users report that the issue is mainly with iPhone 5s equipped with an Apple Wi-Fi chip. Users with the Intel wi-fi chips have reported almost no problems.
After paying upwards of $650 for an iPhone (which we all pay for under our carrier contracts), a lot of people are left with half-fuctional iPhone that is supposed to "just work". With this petition, we want Apple to fix or replace each and every iPhone that has an Apple Wi-Fi chip with a known working iPhone, free of charge. Apple has robbed this 14 year old of his money thanks to a bad chip. All I want is for all iPhone 5 owners to have a full fuctonal iPhone 5.
Please make this happen, with your signature.
