For about 50-60 years, the Beatles session tapes have been held at Abbey Road Studios (formerly EMI Studios) in London, England. In recent years, Apple Corps. have been releasing “deluxe editions” of many later Beatles albums, which include many outtakes and demos. So far they’ve only done Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles (White Album), Abbey Road, and Let It Be. While these releases are fine and extensive, especially the White Album, many of the other session tapes from albums prior have not been released officially. You see, many bootlegs have been released in the many years following the Beatles breakup. My point is, if Apple releases the session tapes for these albums, they won’t ever have to give up the rights to them. Stopping the Bootleg Market in its tracks. They’ve done this before. For example, in 2013, Apple released an album on iTunes only called The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963. It included many outtakes, demos, and live recordings. It’s only purpose was to make sure those recordings didn’t go into the public domain. So all I’m suggesting to Apple, is why not do that with the other session tapes. Maybe make a compilation of some of the outtakes and demos they have lying around. I’m sure there’ll be a lot of things to be uncovered, much like in the newest Get Back documentary. It would be a chance to hear how the Beatles creative process went down. I’m sure everyone who loves the Beatles would love to hear that.
