Appeal the Approval of High-Rise Building on 230 ROYAL YORK RD

The Issue

A 9-storey high-rise building has been approved to go up in front of our complex, and I believe this decision should be appealed.

1) Section 40.10.40.10.(2)(A) of By-law 569-2013 states that the maximum permitted building height is 14m, but this new mixed-use building will have a height of 31.79m, far exceeding the limit.

This excessive height will ruin views of the Toronto skyline and block natural sunlight for our entire complex, affecting our quality of life and property values.

2) The proposed building plans do not include adequate on-site parking for residents [breaking Sections 200.5.10.1.(1), 200.15.10.10.(1)(B) & 200.15.1.(1) of By-law 569-2013]. This will exacerbate parking issues in our neighborhood, leading to increased congestion and reduced accessibility.

For owners within our community that feel the same way we have put together a petition to appeal on this decision. By signing this petition, we can collectively voice our concerns and request a review of the approval.

Once we have gathered enough signatures, we will send this petition to our Member of Parliament (MP) to seek their support in overseeing that this development adheres to existing bylaws and respects our neighborhood’s integrity.
