To everyone who placed their signature here, I can't re-emphasize how grateful I am. Without all these signatures, awareness and the gravity of this crime may not have been highlighted. I am quite certain that most of us are relieved that these two abusers are now serving jail time, but still feel that their jail term is grossly insufficient. Throughout the whole point, from the start they have abused Annie till they have entered jail, remorse can be hardly felt from their actions to the things they say. The cruel physical assaults that Annie went through may be highlighted in the news, but the degree of anguish, despair and loss of dignity felt by her, will never be revealed through her own mouth as she is dead. If we can feel rage and sadness towards the plight of this girl who is unrelated to us in any way, can we imagine if our dear ones was the one being tortured so badly and suffered in silence till death? More so, this was a girl who found it harder to fend for herself due to her intellectual disability. I can never and ever would like to comprehend that feeling. If the Law cannot ensure cruel abusers like that will be kept in jail forever, I guess we all would all have to play a stronger part in identifying potential tragedies like this and prevent the death of potential victims.
