The Triangle Area has 10,000 children involved in the Triangle Swim Association, TSA, over 2,000 of which swim within a 5 mile radius of Pleasant Park.  There are also approximately 500 swimmers who compete in year round teams or swim on High School teams.  Our local high school swim teams, Apex HS and Apex Friendship High School cannot train in our own town.  AFHS swimmers will travel 60 minutes round trip for pool space to just train. Some Wake Co. swim meets are held as far away as Johnston County and Campbell University, due to lack of pool space.

A YMCA Natatorium that houses a competitive swimming facility will allow for our local teams to practice and compete locally.  A Natatorium will also host regional and national swim meets that will draw visitors from outside of the town, potentially generating $72,000 for local businesses for each meet.

A YMCA Natatorium serves the recreation needs of all ages.  There is programming at a YMCA for ages 6mos -106! Programming in a YMCA Natatorium can be held year round and is not impacted by in climate weather.  The YMCA also provides tutoring, after school care, and leadership development for youth. The YMCA also makes financial assistance for those in need to provide programming for all.
