Anyone with history of Stalking/Criminal damage to be mandatory to report to new partners

The Issue

Myself and my partners story is one of constant fear and torment.

For the past three years and which is still ongoing, we have been victims of stalking/harrassment and criminal damage by my ex-partner. This has resulted in a psychological upheaval that has drastically impacted our daily lives. The terror associated with this ongoing nightmare is something no one should experience.

This personal crisis underscores the urgent need for legal reforms. We are urging the institution of a law mandating the disclosure of stalking/harassment and criminal damage offenses to new partners of convicted/non convicted perpetrators to be made aware of their crimes convicted or not.

Our full story is not yet told, but if this law was already implemented I would of known who and what my perpetrator was capable of then our story would be different. This law would have allowed us to live our lives different to how it is now living in constant fear.

Unfortunately, stalkers often repeat their harmful actions, thereby significantly impacting multiple people's lives. Given this startling prevalence, it is of utmost importance that potential victims are informed of their partners’ past stalking convictions.

The complications of our personal situation are multiplied by the fact that complaints against previous our perpetrator did not receive the attention they deserve from law enforcement. Therefore, this proposed law would also ensure that authorities prioritize investigations into reports involving suspects with past convictions or reports of these crimes.

There has been to many times where stalking has lead to murder because of a lack of investigating from the very start of reporting these crimes, when infact the beginning is a crucial time to prevent serious harm.

By adopting this law, we can give people the vital information needed to protect themselves and capably make decisions about their relationships. It is time to prioritize our safety, dignity, and life quality over past offenders' dishonesty or evasion. We request your support in making this significant change. Please sign this petition to help protect countless individuals from walking blindly into a potentially dangerous situation.
