Please sign this petition and spread the word about keeping the Indian name at GHS. There will be a public meeting very soon about changing the name again. The goal of this petition is to show the support towards the name and make it evident guilford does not want this change. GHS had already voted a couple of years ago and decided to keep the mascot by a substantial vote. The definition of indian is not racist, nor a slur like red man, so there is no reason to make a change. As students of GHS we need to unite and show our Indian pride and fight for our name before a small number of people get the name changed to something else us students would not be proud to represent. Lastly, what is important to think about is as a GHS student have you ever heard a student use the guilford Indian name as a slur? If not then it is a clear example of why this name is not wrong in any shape or form and is a name of pride not to be mistaken as immoral.
