Westjet has not recognized the importance of passenger safety. They need to offer FULL REFUNDS to their passengers who booked ahead of the Coronavirus outbreak. It is sheer greed which has them keeping a $250 rebooking fee for each passenger.

They have already had two passengers travel on their aircraft who were carriers of the Coronavirus. See Notice on their website: WestJet Flight 1199, Feb. 28 (PHX-YYZ). According to the WHO, "people can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales. These droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. People can also catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person with COVID-19 who coughs out or exhales droplets. This is why it is important to stay more than 1 meter (3 feet) away from a person who is sick." -

By keeping the rebooking fee in place, it is unsafe to put so many at risk.

The only satisfactory solution is offering a full refund to passengers who were not aware of the outbreak when they booked.

I call on Westjet's Management team to do the right thing and OFFER FULL REFUNDS to ALL passengers who booked before the outbreak.
