The conflict with the Standing Rock Sioux of North Dakota has to do with an in-progress oil pipeline that threatens the water supply for millions of people downstream. It is also desecrating sacred tribal sites and burial grounds that should be protected by the often ignored Fort Laramie treaty from 1851.

Peaceful protesters were arrested, also during prayers and ceremony´s, by heavily armed police in riot gear. On numerous occasions, tribal members were pepper-sprayed and threatened with assault by private security armed with attack dogs which bit people. Police arrested more than 120 people, inclusive elders, over the weekend of 10/22. People were injured and shot with rubber bullets, beanbag guns and sound cannons. Hundreds were arrested and "caged in dog kennels" after enduring violent arrests on 10/27. They were also given numbers instead of names, as was done in concentration camps.
