I have lived in Rushpark for 36 years and watched the council invest into other nearby estates and not invested into Rushpark. In the 80s Rushpark won the best kept large estate several times. The people who live/lived in Rushpark have always taken pride in how the estate looked. Spending most of their own time weeding the streets and picking up any rubbish they may have found. It has and still is a safe area to live in. Even through the troubles and beyond we remained a mixed community that laughed and went on holidays together. I am very dissapointed driving around Newtownabbey to see nearby estates receive investment that includes new road surfaces and new entrance signs etc that Rushpark has not been provided with. I would like to petition the Council to provide Rushpark with 1. New entrances signs to the estate, 2. New road surfaces and 3. Better lighting at the park area. Rushpark has been left with pathetic, embarrassing entrance signs and disgraceful roads in much need of complete repair rather than patched up as well as better lighting around certain areas of the park. I ask that you support me in this petition to raise awareness of the absence of investment into what was once awarded the best large estate. Let's stand together as we have done in the past for the future community of Rushpark.
