Legal or not, ASBU does not help create a cleaner environment as its implementation is hugely flawed:
- This system is redundant as emission tests are done annually when vehicles are registered.
- They don't stop jeepneys and other public vehicles which clearly pollute the air so much more than most private vehicles they flag down.
- As I've personally experienced, their machines are not reliable: our van failed one machine, but when we went to their head office and tested it again, it passed.
- And ironically, ASBU promotes so much more pollution every time they do their random tests on C5 because it ALWAYS causes heavy traffic both northbound and southbound.
