Stop Chick-fil-A from opening in Tenleytown

Fast food is becoming a big problem in the United States. Especially with kids. Fast food is one of, if not the main reason for childhood obesity. People like Michelle Obama have spent years trying to combat this problem, by sharing Let's Move with kids across the U.S. So why, might I ask, are people letting a fast food chains take over stores in a historic neighborhood within blocks of 3 schools?

Tenleytowndc.org stated on their website that residents of this neighborhood had unfavorable comments about the chain coming to Tenley. " Comments on the local list serve ranged from “It is unfortunate that such an offensive fast food restaurant has come to our neighborhood.” to “I don’t like the idea of another unhealthy and unattractive option in Tenleytown." You can read the rest of the article Here.

Do parents want their kids at nearby schools-Janney, Wilson, and Deal to be eating this at such an early age? Chick-fil-A, a popular chain among young adults and teens will just cause students at these schools to be unhealthy. There are numerous studies stating the more fast food kids eat as children, the more likely they are to continue these unhealthy eating habits through adulthood.

The residents of Ward 3E voted for our representatives for a reason, and we would like to see them make decisions that would actually IMPROVE this wonderful neighborhood.
