Stop the 20 Acre Commercial Build on Quarterfield Road

Stop the 20 Acre Commercial Build on Quarterfield Road
Why this petition matters

For years we have watched the de-forestation of AACo at the hands of developers with no regard for the environmental or community impact. There is currently a plan by a builder/company out of NY, in what has always been a residential area, for a commercial facility (update*** for a 100,000+ sqft indoor soccer facility of which there is already one within a few miles) on Old Quarterfield road between Fine Farms Road and Severn Pines Way. They applied for a special exemption to do so and the only reason why we are aware is because we noticed some tags on the trees and called the county about it.
This is an area currently zoned for 1 residence per 5 acres in order to create a buffer for the protected Severn Run watershed that runs alongside of it. Developers don't seem to care about the impact on protected areas or our neighborhood and simply want to plow a majority of it down for profit.
Hundreds of old growth trees, plants, and animals are going to be culled or forced into ever shrinking areas of refuge. There will be much more traffic, pollution (that will effect our water for those on wells), road issues, and noise brought to our quiet neighborhood.
The only meeting that will be held will be on Feb 18th at 1030am at 44 Calvert Street but no notices have been sent out to those who will be impacted as of yet.
We can stop this! Sign the petition. Reach out to your representative. Attend the meeting.
Please check for updates as we get them.
We must preserve what is left of our dwindling wooded acreage in AACo!
