STOP WICKED VAN OFFENSIVE SLOGANS ONCE & FOR ALL

The issue

My recent letter to John Webb, Founder of Wicked Campers, goes unanswered.  Let's get him to take a little more social responsibility and think up some new slogans for the vans he hires out.

We live in a very troubled world - surely you would agree.  I wonder why he thinks that his company slogans need to be all about sex, mysogynistic and sexist behaviour, generally promoting alcohol, drugs and abusive / bad behaviour?

I live near Byron Bay and virtually every van I have seen has some offensive slogan painted on it.  Byron has seen more and more violence and abusive behavior, sexual assaults etc. over the past few years, where we never had such an issue before.

There are many young people driving Wicked vans in Byron - so young people particularly are constantly reminded of these slogans....

I have suggested in my letter to John that it might be more socially responsible to promote more positive messages to the community out there instead of cynical, tongue in cheek, destructive attempts at humour? - that kind of lead nowhere.

I think the Wicked company has a great opportunity here.  We have so much domestic violence in Australia which is now high on the agenda since Rosie Batty came out as Australian of the Year last year.  There is still at least 1 woman dying each week from domestic violence – this is a terrible statistic and surely John Webb can see that his company is promoting more of this behaviour.

If it was one of his family who had been abused, attacked, killed... I think he might have a different view.

So John Webb needs take some initiative and think up some new slogans... paint over the old ones and start afresh.  I think many people would applaud him for doing this... and we have so much racism, hate, apathy, violence in this world - how wonderful would it be to see Wicked vans with positive, healthier messages about people taking more responsibility for themselves and respect for the people around them.

Please sign this petition and help John Webb finally see some sense and take some responsibility - he has a lot of Wicked Vans out there - he can make a change, a positive change for all of us.... and I'm sure he will feel a benefit too.
