Representation Matters: Brand Commitment to equality and inclusion in Fashion and Beauty

Representation matters within the slightest things, but affects our entire psyche. When we were children, we looked to society and the pop culture around us to begin to form our own identities and find our niche in the world. However, when all we're shown are different depictions of heteronormative whiteness, it subconsciously tells us that we aren't enough to be part of the majority.
In recent years, Fashion's push for diversity has seemed insincere and usually ends up with a "token" model of color or a "token season" of all models of color rather than an actual long term depiction of black and minority representation.
The media reflects the values of the society around it, and history has made the live's of people of color and minorities less important. To help fix that, we are asking all fashion and beauty brands to include people of color and other subjugated groups in the selection of all their future models, staff, production and retail.
