Rescind Medd's New Pick-up Policy for Loomis Union School District

Rescind Medd's New Pick-up Policy for Loomis Union School District
The Issue
We the undersigned parents demand the Loomis Union School District Board of Trustees rescind the district's new policy on dropping off and picking up students at the schools for the following reasons:
1) Decreased or lack of communication with teachers. Picking up our child(ren) at their classroom door allows us parents to quickly find out how our child(ren) is/are doing, if there are any classroom or teacher needs we can help with, if our child(ren) are passing along necessary information to us, etc.. We don't always get the printed classroom communications that teachers send out. Relying on that option is not good enough.
2) There are many parents that HAVE TO talk, sometimes daily, with the teachers due to medical issues, learning abilities, emotional/developmental issues, etc..
3) The most important: safety of our children. If safety is the true reason for these new policies than we need to look at the statistics. Most non-gang related, mass shootings at schools DO NOT occur while there is an increased number of parents on school grounds. We do not have gang issues in our district, which cuts out the bulk of school shootings after school hours.
Having more parents on school grounds to vastly outnumber any singular person or group of maliciously intent individuals insures a safer environment for our children. While having fewer parents on campus may appear more orderly and SEEM safer in theory, this is a false sense of safety. More parents at the doors of the classrooms means more eye witnesses when a crisis occurs; and increased response time to crisis situations should any occur. Parents arriving at the classroom door minutes before the school is released for the day have the ability to scan the surrounding area for danger, without the distraction of a classroom full of students. Teachers on the other hand may be entering a dangerous situation blindly and distracted if parents are prevented from gathering at the classrooms doors. There is safety in numbers. What could be setting our schools up for disaster is pushing the parents back away from the classrooms at the end of the day.
If the school grounds weren't safe enough previously then parents should have been asked by the district to take more responsibility in the schools safety. Ask parents to keep an eye out for suspicious people and activities. Ask parents to approach, greet, and question any unfamiliar face (something I often see parents do around my child's classroom door with new people. This typically occurs in the time BEFORE classes are let out, so the teachers don't see this going on).
In the best interest of our children, we the under signed parents demand this end of school day policy be rescinded..

I am investigating whether these were the Placer County Sheriff's recommendations. I will be updating once I find out.
