One day while walking in our city, I witnessed a horrifying act of cruelty that left me deeply disturbed. A man under the influence of alcohol threw hot water on a dog who was merely barking. The dog's cries were heart-wrenching and the man's laughter was chillingly cruel. Animals cannot speak for themselves or seek justice from law enforcement agencies like humans can. If they retaliate by biting their abusers, they are often killed as punishment.

This incident is not isolated; animal cruelty is rampant worldwide and even here in our city. According to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), there has been an alarming increase in animal abuse cases over recent years.

Animals deserve love and kindness - not pain or suffering at the hands of humans who should know better. We need to take action now to protect these innocent creatures who bring so much joy into our lives but are unable to defend themselves against such brutal acts.

We urge local authorities in Tacurong City to implement stricter laws against animal cruelty and ensure that those guilty are held accountable for their actions. Let us come together as responsible citizens and demand justice for these voiceless animals.
