Greyhounds are being treated awfully in the industry of racing. Generally, if they are new to racing and don't win or place in the first six races, they are sentenced to an early death. An estimated 18,000 greyhounds are killed each year in Australia, which is far too many, and it's all because they aren't deemed fast enough to win races. The dogs who make it to the racetrack are at risk of sustaining significant injuries, such as head trauma, broken hocks or legs, during training or racing. Greyhounds are forced to work for profit and are completely deprived of human companionship. I believe that this form of animal cruelty should be banned Australia-wide because it is cruel to such a loving animal that doesn't deserve to be treated this way.
