Singapore, being a first world country, has a long way to go in protecting animals from abusers. We witness this through the most recent case of Platinum Dog Club, where the operator of the dog boarding facility caused the death of two dogs and neglected 12 other animals. She could have been jailed for up to two years or fined up to S$40,000, or both; but was only charged with 2 weeks' jail and fined S$35,700 (Article link). This infuriated many animal lovers in Singapore.

We have another chance to show animal abusers that Singapore does care and protect animals. Another man is now being charged, after videos of him abusing his poodle surfaced. In the videos, you can see him enjoying the abuse on his dog, smirking while beating the poor, vulnerable pup. The article describes the horrendous acts he did to the poor pup who is incapable of protecting itself. He will return to court on Oct 7 to be sentenced.

Those convicted of cruelly torturing an animal can be jailed for up to 18 months or fined up to S$15,000, or both. They can also be disqualified from owning an animal for up to 12 months. We petition for the harsher punishments for this man, for the punishments to be justifiable and reasonable in view of the abuse he has caused this poodle and ask that he is banned from owning an animal for life. No other living being should suffer in his hands again.
