Animals are still tortured and killed for the purpose of testing shampoo, mascara, and other cosmetic products. Terrorized rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, and mice have substances forced down their throats, dripped into their eyes, or smeared onto their skin before being killed. Many animals have suffered and died as a result of being used as test subjects for human-use cosmetics. Every year, 500,000 ANIMALS suffer and die as a result of cosmetics testing all over the world. We must act and stand together to put an end to this cruelty and not turn a blind eye to it. Despite the availability of non-animal tests, animal experiments for cosmetics and household products continue. Rather than measuring how long it takes a chemical to burn the cornea of a rabbit's eye, manufacturers can now drop that chemical onto 3D tissue structures made of human cells that resemble the cornea. For testing skin irritation, human skin cultures can also be grown and purchased.
