I am filing a petition calling for Taiwanese to protect the Formosan black bear. The Formosan black bears are endangered animals in Taiwan. There are two reasons to explain why the Formosan black bears are endangered.

     First of all, the biggest threat to black bears is illegal hunting. According to the investigation, eight in every fifteen Formosan black bears have replantation of limbs or hands because of traps set by hunters. On top of that, because the Formosan black bears are so valuable that they could be sold for up to a hundred and seventy thousand, hunters would hunt by all means. What's more, owing to the traditional concepts in Taiwan, most people consider bears to have high nutritive value to conditioning the body.Moreover, due to human activities, we need more and more territories to exploit. We are deforestation in order to plant economic crops, establish infrastructures, obtain wood resources,etc. It not only causes the habitat of black bears to decrease but also destroys the environment. The above reasons are the major factors why black bears are endangered.

    How can we solve the Formosan black bear's endangered problem? Formulating the more rigorous law system to prevent hunters from hunting at will. In addition, we can protect our Taiwan's endemic species through the education, increasing this aspect subjects were benefit to understand how to balance between the economic development and natural environment.
