Canada currently has a score of D on a scale of A B C D E F G on the World Animal Protection's animal protection index. Canada's criminal code provides protection to cattle, as well as horses, mules, donkeys, pigs, sheep and goats. However, some animals farmed still do not have protections. This includes fish and chicken which are a few of the most commonly farmed animals. The majority of Canadians agreed for more intensive animal protection laws in a poll conducted by Mercy for animals, but nothing has yet to be done.
