A man has been arrested following a grave incident of animal abuse that left a kitten severely injured, though she is now recovering.
The police responded to a call at a property in West Hempfield Township, PA, USA, regarding a reported sighting of a wild black jaguar earlier this month. Upon arrival, they discovered 56-year-old Richard Swangler in the house with scratches and bite marks on his arm.
No wild animals were found. However, police encountered a kitten with serious facial injuries.
The kitten, a six-month-old named Nakia, had injuries so severe that her chin was exposed to the bone. She was likely terrified by the violence that she endured.
Veterinarians have since successfully treated Nakia's injuries, and she is expected to fully recover. But, Friend, Nakia should never have been forced to endure such horrific violence.
It remains unclear how or why Swangler was able to inflict such harm on Nakia’s face.
Swangler, who was also sought for existing probation violations, has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty.
