Kristina De La Roche started this petition to Animal lovers and wildlife rescuers and

Did you know that around every 60 seconds, an animal suffers abuse?  People tend to ignore the problem because they are animals. Abuse is a terrible thing that  results in suffering. Animals can experience anxiety, pain, fear, distress, and hopelessness.

Another problem is people that kill for sport. They destroy animal families and habitats, and they leave behind frightened and dependent baby animals to die from  starvation.

Another hunting tradition is the use of Galgo dogs by Spanish hunters. Galgo dogs are Spanish Greyhounds and they help hunters hunt for hares. If the dog does not preform well, they are sentenced to abuse and death. The hunters assault and kill over 50,000 a year.

Greyhounds are known for their great speed and agility. Because of this, a sport was created. Dog racing began in the early 1900's. Thousands of dogs die from this every year. When a dog gets injured or their career is over, they are euthanized. There are many greyhound rescue groups and organizations that help as much as they can (Thank you so much!!) but there are too many dogs they can't help.

Another misunderstood dog is the Pit Bull. Studies estimate that up to 1 million    Pit Bulls are euthanized per year.  They really are the sweetest dogs but are often thought of as aggressive because people would put them in dog fights and such. Like the dog racing dog fights are also terrible.

What can WE do to help? We can take care of and love our pets, and report any neglect or abuse we see. We can teach our kids to love and respect animals. We can raise and donate money to animal shelters and save some animals in need. We can adopt a pet, NOT from a breeder, but from an animal shelter or rescue organization. Adopt a pet who needs you! Help free up space in a shelter so that more dogs can come into the safety and comfort of the shelters. No more suffering for them!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! Sign the petition, adopt, save a life.
