Ruger, a Chihuahua, was hit and killed in front of his home. The truck who hit him was speeding at 55 mph to 60 mph in a 20 mph zone. Seven people were yelling at the driver to stop before he was in front of the home where Ruger lived. This driver sped up, hit Ruger, and kept going. My life was forever changed that day. Ruger was a valued member of my family. He was my comfort. I now see an Urn with his name on it everyday in the room where Ruger should be. We need to make it a crime to hit a pet while speeding in a neighborhood. Especially when the driver doesnt even take the time to stop. Pets' lives matter too. Ruger's Law will put in place a mandatory fine and jail time. Especially for a hit and run. Property crimes dont go unpunished. A pet has a lot more value than broken windows or graffiti. If you want to go there, pets are property too. Ruger's Law will hold people accountable who disrespect speed zones. Especially in neighborhoods where pets are sure to be, along with their human children. Please help make Ruger's Law effective ASAP!!
