Animal cruelty, exploitation and abuse in any form or shape should have no place in modern society. We live in times where there is innumerable amount of activities or forms of entertainment for humans, without the necessity to involve and abuse animals. 
So infamous greyhound racing is one of these dark ages entertainment forms. It promotes speciesism, cruelty, gambling, alcoholism, society division, greed, dishonesty, and abuse.

Greyhound racing is truly a bloody game with lots of secrets and scandals.

“Mr Ross said €16 million of Government money went to the board which commissioned the report. Its findings included the culling of 6,000 dogs every year “simply because they could not race fast enough”, he said. “There was a culture of doing that sort of thing in the industry which was obviously accepted.” (The Irish Times)

The true dog lovers won’t race their dogs for financial profit. As sir Roger Moore said: “In a world with boundless opportunities for amusement, it's detestable that anyone would choose to get thrills from killing others who ask for nothing from life but the chance to remain alive.” And we all know that Irish greyhounds are killed on and outside the racing tracks. Please, if you do not support animal abuse sign this petition and pass it on. Help us to create a better future, where money, greed and corruption won’t decide on matters of animals death or life; where the society is compassionate and affectionate towards our little brothers and human best friends-dogs.

We are appealing to you with our petition to eliminate the greyhound racing track in Enniscorthy. The vast majority of Enniscorthy residents, and the residents of the surrounding areas, as well as visitors, are against the greyhound racing. Apart from the fact that (as we are all aware) greyhound racing is associated with the suffering and death of these beautiful animals, there is huge concern about younger generation and children. Young people who should be developing their skills or engage in sports in local clubs, instead, they can be found participating in greyhound races, thus learning gambling, alcoholism, deceit, corruption and animal abuse. Enniscorthy has been struggling with youth unemployment and alcoholism for a long time. Enniscorthy racing track does not create jobs, or friendly environment for family gatherings or the elderly meetings, as some are claiming. It doesn’t teach any values or virtues. It has not positive influence on young people or families with children. There is no social or cultural value in greyhound racing. Having the potential that this place have, why not to create a place where families and other age groups would meet, in friendly, positive, cruelty, gambling and alcohol free environment? Why not to create a place such as Leisure Maxx; where the all age groups could gather and have fun. Where so many jobs could be created for so many unemployed living in Enniscorthy. Where young people and children would develop physically and socially. Where older people could meet, for example, to play bingo. Such a place would be an attraction that would help the town’s financial situation.
The owners of Enniscorthy greyhound racing track do not contribute to improve the situation of the town or its community in any way; their only concern is the personal gain; if it wasn’t the case, they wouldn’t allow individuals under 18 to place bets which is pure gambling and illegal.
“ You cannot buy a Lotto ticket or make a bet until you are 18 years of age. Under the Betting Act 1931 it is an offence for a child under age 18 to be in a bookmakers. However, under the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1956 you can engage in gaming at an amusement hall or funfair from the age of 16.”
