Animal Mistreatment at The Animal Welfare League Shelter in Chicago

This Chicago shelter has been receiving many complaints about unsanitary conditions for the animals, many of them developed diseases as a result of the lack of proper hygiene.
Mouse droppings can be seen all over the floor near occupied cages, as well as what looks like backed up sewage in the garage. It is infested with mice, rats, and cockroaches. The mice would defecate in the dog's food--it’s horrifying. The dogs would be left in their own feces and urine and a lot of them showed respiratory distress.
Photos of the premises show pigeons freely roaming the areas where dogs and cats are kept. The birds can carry at least 60 diseases in their feces, including E.coli and histoplasmosis, a respiratory disease that can be fatal.
As of January 2018 the shelter had to 'temporarily" shut down its doors due to an outbreak of canine respiratory disease. Officials said the illness seems like kennel cough, but it may be a bacterial infection that affected only dogs. Cats were not affected.
Animal shelters are supposed to be a sanctuary for animals in need of rescue but the Animal Welfare League (AWL) in Chicago Ridge, IlI has become a cemetery for dogs. We want it shut down completely, as this is clear evidence that the people involved in the shelter lack compassion and love for animals. NO SECOND CHANCE, CLOSE IT DOWN OR REMOVE THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF THAT FACILITY!!
