Puppy mills or puppy farms are a type of dog breeding industry that promotes forced, unhealthy dog breeding activity in unsafe and unsanitary environments. This petition aims to ban all puppy mills in the state of Kansas. The people think of money much more than how well the dogs are treated. This cannot happen! Dogs and puppies are living things just like humans and they can’t be treated like this. Please don’t buy a puppy from a pet store because so many puppies from pet stores are from puppy mills. 

At some mills, the mistreatment of dogs include:

1. Crowding many dogs into small, unsanitary spaces which causes diseases to spread
   2. Passing genetic/hereditary deficits through mass breeding
   3. Isolating dogs from socialization and from their own families
   4. Abandoning or killing dogs that are unable to breed or be sold
   5. Forcing tattooed branding numbers or clips on the animals
   6. Neglecting the animals of proper nutrition, water, and housing

How you can help fight against the cruelty of puppy mills:

1. Adopt pets from animal shelters instead of pet stores
2. Avoid adopting pets online unless you’ve scheduled an in-person visit with the breeder and have seen the living conditions of the shelter
3. Donate to organizations that prevent animal abuse (i.e. Animal League Defense, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, The Humane League, Animal Protection and Rescue League, Best Friends Animal Society)
4. Raise awareness in your community by educating friends and families
5. Advocate for state laws that protect animals rights

To stop puppy mills, buy your puppy or dog from an animal shelter where they are much more taken care of. I am strongly against any type of animal abuse. Dogs are such pure living things and we don’t deserve them. If you could sign this petition, I would be so thankful. You would be making such a great change and saving the lives of thousands of dogs and puppies. I can’t tell you how frustrated I am that people are doing this to dogs. I love all animals and the fact that someone would kill dogs, let them starve, not give them proper shelter and so much more, is just awful. Please sign this petition because animals need love. We need to do our part in saving them.
