Animal Cruelty: Fight for Animal Rights, Help Them Live a Better Life
The Issue
Why did we conduct this petition?
Most people are unaware of the correlation between the cosmetics industry and the horrific treatment of animals. Each year more than 500, 000 animals are harmed, tortured, and slaughtered for animal testing for cosmetics. And that’s just one part of the problem. The goal of this petition is to provide some more insight and information to help educate everyone and raise awareness regarding this horrific practice. Education on topics such as this one is very important to help us make better choices as consumers when purchasing cosmetic products if we don’t want to support animal cruelty and make a difference in the lives of our fellow earthlings.
What animals are being used for animal testing?
Many different species are used around the world, but the most common include mice, fish, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, farm animals, birds, cats, dogs, mini-pigs, and non-human primates (monkeys, and in some countries, chimpanzees).
What countries also support stopping animal testing and making it cruelty-free?
The countries that have passed laws to limit or ban cosmetics animal testing, including every country in the European Union, Australia, Colombia, Guatemala, Iceland, India, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Kingdom and several states in Brazil.
What law protects animals?
Republic Act 8485 is An Act to promote animal welfare in the Philippines, otherwise known as “The Animal Welfare Act of 1998”.
Section 6. It shall be unlawful for any person to torture any animal, to neglect to provide adequate care, sustenance, or shelter, or maltreat any animal or to subject any dog or horse to dogfights or horse fights, kill or cause or procure to be tortured or deprived of adequate care, sustenance or shelter, or maltreat or use the same in research or experiments not expressly authorized by the Committee on Animal Welfare.
Our Pledge
We, animal advocates, do not condone these immoral actions toward our beloved animals, they shouldn’t be used as an accessory for testing products for the benefit of a company who are blinded by money, they should be free not enslaved, and they should not suffer of being experimented on. We support an end to animal testing for cosmetics and the sale of new cosmetics that have been tested on animals.
